{"id":410,"date":"2026-03-19T11:57:42","date_gmt":"2026-03-19T11:57:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/agf.africa\/blog\/?p=410"},"modified":"2026-03-19T12:14:20","modified_gmt":"2026-03-19T12:14:20","slug":"empowering-women-transforming-value-chains-the-agf-and-afawa-impact-journey","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/agf.africa\/blog\/empowering-women-transforming-value-chains-the-agf-and-afawa-impact-journey\/","title":{"rendered":"Empowering Women, Transforming Value Chains: The AGF and AFAWA Impact Journey"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This <strong>International Women\u2019s Month<\/strong> under the theme <em><strong>#GiveToGain<\/strong><\/em> highlights a powerful truth: when women are given the right support, their impact extends far beyond their own success.<\/p>\n<p>For us at AGF, this impact is reflected in the journey of <strong>MO Solutions<\/strong>, founded by <strong>Maureen Onyango.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Through AGF&#8217;s Capacity Development support, which was implemented by <strong>SME Support Centre<\/strong> under the <strong>AFAWA<\/strong> initiative, Maureen has grown her enterprise into a platform connecting farmers to ma\u00a0\u00a0rkets across Eastern Africa.<\/p>\n<p>Today, MO Solutions works with <strong>over 2,500 farmers<\/strong>, supporting value chains in sorghum, soy beans, maize, coffee, avocado and other agricultural products, while <strong>paying farmers over KES 40 million<\/strong>. The business has also <strong>contributed to over 1,500 jobs across Eastern Africa, including 500 in Kenya.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>But beyond the numbers is a story of resilience and vision. Maureen is passionate about encouraging the next generation of women entrepreneurs to think boldly and act creatively.<\/p>\n<p>Her message to young\u00a0women is clear, &#8220;Be daring, innovate and pursue opportunities with confidence.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>We believe that empowering women entrepreneurs through programmes like AFAWA means <strong>strengthening businesses, livelihoods and communities<\/strong>.
